Service Dog Program
Welcome to our service dog training program! We love helping people find a dog or train their own dog to help them. Not all dogs can handle the job of being a service dog and that is okay, we can help find a candidate. Our main focus is to prepare puppies or dogs to achieve their Public Access skills test first. Then, we finish the dog's training by tasks training them to their handlers specific needs. Currently we focus on tasks teaching for psychiatric service dog or mobility service dog needs with more options coming soon.
According to ADA (American's with Disabilities Act) and service dog laws there are NO certifications or licensed written requirements for a service dog to be a service dog. A service dog must be tasked trained to help their handler with their medical needs. With that being said, a service dog must be able to handle very loud and distracting environments and perform the task they were trained to do.
We believe that the American Kennel Club has done an excellent job creating a training syllabus for dogs to achieve good behavior in each one of these titling programs. These AKC programs include Temperament Testing, Canine Good Citizen, Community Canine and Urban Canine/Public Access. We train each service dog in our program to achieve the requirements in each one of these programs. We also ask each candidate to consistently exhibit the skills listed on each syllabus before taking each test. They must pass each of these test programs before moving to the next program and/or starting any tasks training.
Here are a few links below that go over in detail about each one of these test and also here is a link to the ADA.

Once a dog has completed the AKC testing programs and has reached a high level of training to handle life's daily distractions, we start task training. We will discuss your individual needs and tasking options for your dog to be trained to do.
